Physics Scheme of Work — Form Five 2026/2027

TIE-aligned Advanced Level scheme, ready to download and personalise for your school term.

About this scheme

This Form Five Physics scheme of work follows the competence-based planning format set out by the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) for the Advanced Level curriculum. It is a starting point: add your school name and term dates, and adjust pacing for holidays and school events before submitting it to your head of department.

What the scheme contains

Every row of the scheme carries the same column set: Main Competence, Specific Competence, Learning Activities, Specific Activities, Month, Week, Periods, Reference, Teaching and Learning Methods, Teaching and Learning Resources, Assessment Tools and Remarks. The Remarks column is used for examination dates and school breaks.

Competences covered

Period allocation

Physics is planned at approximately 10 periods per major topic block (roughly 2–3 periods per week depending on the school timetable), with practical work and virtual simulations integrated into teaching.

Teaching methods, resources and assessment

Methods include Think-Ink-Pair-Share, hands-on experience, interactive digital simulation, scenario and virtual simulation. Resources include metre rule, Vernier calipers, voltmeters, ammeters, micrometer screw gauge, weighing scales, timers, protractor, oscilloscope, balls, conical pendulum and related apparatus. Assessment combines quizzes, tests, questions and answers, project work and group discussions.
