TIE-aligned, ready to download and personalise for your school term.
This Form One Food and Nutrition scheme of work follows the competence-based planning format set out by the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) for the new curriculum. It is a starting point: add your school name and term dates, and adjust pacing for holidays and school events before submitting it to your head of department.
Every row of the scheme carries the same column set: Main Competence, Specific Competence, Learning Activities, Specific Activities, Month, Week, Periods, Reference, Teaching and Learning Methods, Teaching and Learning Resources, Assessment Tools and Remarks. The Remarks column is used for examination dates and school breaks.
Food and Nutrition is planned at 5 periods per week throughout the year.
Methods include demonstration, project activity, discussion, gallery walk, brainstorming, jigsaw puzzle and ICT-based learning. Resources include food items, pictures, charts and videos of different food groups, kitchen and personal hygiene practices, and ingredients with kitchen equipment and recipe cards for practical cooking. Assessment combines quizzes, questions and answers, project work, class presentation, tests, guest speakers and portfolio work.
Below is a short extract in the official column format, taken directly from the official 2026 Food and Human Nutrition Form One scheme. The full download follows the same layout week by week across the year, including mid-term and terminal examinations and school holidays.
