TIE-aligned, ready to download and personalise for your school term.
This Form One Music scheme of work follows the competence-based planning format set out by the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) for the new curriculum. It is a starting point: add your school name and term dates, and adjust pacing for holidays and school events before submitting it to your head of department.
Every row of the scheme carries the same column set: Main Competence, Specific Competence, Learning Activities, Specific Activities, Month, Week, Periods, Reference, Teaching and Learning Methods, Teaching and Learning Resources, Assessment Tools and Remarks. The Remarks column is used for examination dates and school breaks.
Music is planned at 4 periods per week throughout the year.
Methods include snowballing, flash cards, group discussions, debate, exploration, ICT-based learning, jigsaw puzzle and case studies. Resources include piano, guitar and ngoma, audio and video clips of musical and non-musical sounds, and ABRSM music theory guidelines, scores and sheets. Assessment combines quizzes, assignments, class tests, homework, group discussion, flash cards and portfolio work.
Below is a short extract in the official column format, taken directly from the official 2026 Music Form One scheme. The full download follows the same layout week by week across the year, including mid-term and terminal examinations and school holidays.
