TIE / PMO-RALG aligned primary scheme, ready to download and personalise for your school term.
This Class Four (Standard 4 / Darasa la Nne) English scheme of work follows the competence-based planning format set out by the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) and the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) for the 2026 primary curriculum. It is a starting point: add your school name and term dates, and adjust pacing for holidays and school events before submitting it to your head teacher or academic office.
Every row of the scheme carries the official column set: Main Competence, Specific Competence, Learning Activities, Specific Activities, Month, Week, Periods, Reference, Teaching and Learning Methods, Resources, Assessment Tools and Remarks. The Remarks column records examination dates and short holiday breaks.
Further units continue across the academic year as prescribed in the TIE Standard Four Pupil’s Book.
English is planned at 3–6 periods per week for most competence blocks (some blocks reach 12 periods over two weeks).
Methods include prediction and storytelling with facial expressions, voices and gestures. Resources include texts and audio/audiovisual materials for listening and speaking. Assessment combines quizzes, tests, questions and answers, project work and group discussions.
Below is a short extract in the official column format from the 2026 English Standard 4 scheme (source: PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE, RALG – ENGLISH SCHEMES OF WORK STD 4-2026). The full download follows the same layout week by week across the year.
