This Form Two Historia ya Tanzania na Maadili (Tanzania History and Ethics) scheme of work follows the competency-based planning format set out by the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) and is written in Kiswahili. It covers Tanzania and its ethics during the colonial period (1890 to 1960), then nation building and ethics from 1961 to 1966, including the Zanzibar Revolution. It is a starting point: add your school name and term dates, and adjust pacing for holidays and school events before submitting it to your head of department.
Every row of the scheme is one planned teaching week and carries the same eleven columns: Main Competence, Specific Competence, Learning Activities, Specific Activities, Month, Week, Periods, Reference, Teaching and Learning Methods, Teaching and Learning Resources, Assessment Tools and Remarks. The Remarks column is used for examination dates and school breaks.
Historia ya Tanzania na Maadili is planned at two periods per teaching week, with some four-period double weeks. Across the year the scheme runs to roughly 54 periods, with weeks left free for mid-term, terminal and national examinations and school breaks.
Methods include small research, discussion, think-ink-pair-share, jigsaw-style activities, guest experts and reflection. Resources include texts and pictures on the colonial system, resistance movements, nation building and the Zanzibar Revolution. Assessment combines tests, project work, questions and answers, drawings and group work. The sample below keeps the original Kiswahili wording.
