Textiles and Garment Construction Scheme of Work — Form Two 2027

TIE-aligned, ready to download and personalise for your school year.

About this scheme

This Form Two Textiles and Garment Construction scheme of work follows the competency-based planning format set out by the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE). It begins with garment-making processes (collars, cuffs, sleeves, pockets, facing, interfacing, lining, interlining, ruffles and trimmings) and a portfolio of prototypes, then moves to drafting patterns for an apron, shirt or blouse, and finally to assembling a complete garment. It is a starting point: add your school name and term dates, and adjust pacing for holidays and school events before submitting it to your head of department.

What the scheme contains

Every row of the scheme is one planned teaching week and carries the same eleven columns: Main Competence, Specific Competence, Learning Activities, Specific Activities, Month, Week, Periods, Reference, Teaching and Learning Methods, Teaching and Learning Resources, Assessment Tools and Remarks. The Remarks column is used for examination dates and school breaks.

Competences covered

Period allocation

Textiles and Garment Construction is a practical, high-contact subject. The scheme allocates five periods per teaching week in the first half of the year for prototypes and pattern work, and two to three periods per entry in the assembly stage. Across the year this runs to roughly 135 periods, with weeks left free for examinations and school breaks.

Teaching methods, resources and assessment

Methods include think-ink-pair-share, brainstorming, group discussions, role play, simulations, interactive lectures and guest speakers. Resources move from prototypes and sewing tools, to patterns and drawing tools, to pictures of styles, fashion catalogues and tailoring equipment. Assessment combines quizzes, assignments, class tests, homework, flash cards and a portfolio.
