TIE-aligned, ready to download and personalise for your school year.
This Form Two Sports Studies scheme of work follows the competency-based planning format set out by the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE). It builds skills, techniques, safety measures and rules in netball and field events, with swimming or gymnastics as options, and then applies them by playing selected sports. It is a starting point: add your school name and term dates, and adjust pacing for holidays and school events before submitting it to your head of department.
Every row of the scheme is one planned teaching week and carries the same eleven columns: Main Competence, Specific Competence, Learning Activities, Specific Activities, Month, Week, Periods, Reference, Teaching and Learning Methods, Teaching and Learning Resources, Assessment Tools and Remarks. The Remarks column is used for examination dates and school breaks.
Sports Studies is planned at four periods per teaching week. Across the year the scheme runs to roughly 128 periods, with weeks left free for mid-term, terminal and annual examinations and school breaks.
Methods are practical: small-sided games, demonstration, guided practice, jigsaw, gallery walk, brainstorming and drills. Resources include video clips, photographs, cones, balls, whistles, jerseys and, for the relevant events, swimming gear, rackets, disc markers, starting blocks, hurdles and agility sticks. Assessment combines quizzes, tests, questions and answers, project work, guided practice and group discussions.
Below is a short extract in the official column format. The full download follows the same layout week by week across the year, including mid-term and terminal examinations and school holidays.
