Azimio la Kazi — Muziki, Kidato cha Pili. TIE-aligned, ready to download and personalise for your school year.
This Form Two Music scheme of work follows the competency-based planning format set out by the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE). It covers reading and writing music (based on ABRSM Music Theory Grade II), the sources of musical sounds and classification of instruments, composing and singing songs, playing instruments, and using ICT in musical production. It is a starting point: add your school name and term dates, and adjust pacing for holidays and school events before submitting it to your head of department.
Every row of the scheme is one planned teaching week and carries the same eleven columns: Main Competence, Specific Competence, Learning Activities, Specific Activities, Month, Week, Periods, Reference, Teaching and Learning Methods, Teaching and Learning Resources, Assessment Tools and Remarks. The Remarks column is used for examination dates and school breaks.
Music is planned at four periods per teaching week. Across the year the scheme runs to roughly 124 periods, with weeks left free for mid-term, terminal and national examinations and school breaks.
Methods include snowballing, flash cards, group discussions, debate, exploration, ICT-based learning, jigsaw puzzles and case studies. Resources include music scores and sheets, piano, guitar, ngoma, audio and video clips, and pictures and videos of recording studios. Assessment combines quizzes, assignments, class tests, homework, group discussion, flash cards and a portfolio.
Below is a short extract in the official column format. The full download follows the same layout week by week across the year, including mid-term and terminal examinations and school holidays.
